Opened in May 2023, Gran Hotel Mas d’en Bruno is a beautiful boutique property located in Priorat, the heart of Spain’s Catalonia Wine Region, transporting guests into an idyllic haven. The opening marks the first luxury hotel in Priorat, making some of Spain’s best wines more accessible than ever. Nestled within lush vineyards, the hotel offers 24 spacious suites featuring a double-sided fireplace, views of the vineyard and the utmost privacy. Steeped in history, culture, and surrounded by mountains, sprawling vineyards, and quaint hilltop villages, Priorat immerses travellers in one of the world’s most renowned viticulture experiences. The newest property in The Stein Group portfolio has also been accepted into the prestigious Relais and Chateaux affiliation.
Set on an 18th century estate, located along the banks of the Siurana River less than two hours from Barcelona and 40 minutes from Reus, the estate’s two buildings, the Masía and the Atelier, showcase the architect’s desire to preserve the historic structure while integrating modern elements that blend together seamlessly. Curated by award winning Barcelona-based design firm Astet, streamlined woods, soft leather, creamy marble and glass fireplaces create a place to disconnect. The Presidential Suite, “Bruno’s Suite”, is a unique room located in the Masía. Guests can enjoy a private dining room, dressing room, roman bath, living room, Roman tub and fireplace within an architectural masterpiece, which opens up to a private garden area through one of the property’s original arched doors.
Amenities on-site include a full-service spa, an infinity pool, a library, a state-of-the-art boardroom, a historical private wine cellar for experiential tastings, Bruno’s bar serving expertly crafted cocktails and carefully selected wines, a casual tapas restaurant Terraco on a sunlit terrace overlooking the pool and its marvellous backdrop and Vinum, a gastronomic dining experience.
The spa, designed around historical archaeological elements of the estate’s ancient olive press, offers a complete wellness facility where wine elements can be incorporated into an ultimate sensory experience, whether that be olfactive, gustative or in the form of vinotherapy products and treatments. The spa collaborates with Spanish start-up Foosh Beauty, focused on upcycling grapes. Guests can enjoy hot and cold pools, a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and two treatment rooms, as well as yoga in the vineyards.
Guest experiences include olive oil tastings, astronomical immersions such as stargazing, masterclasses on wine with top producers of the region, electric bikes and helicopter tours, or staying local and enjoying picnics in the vineyard. Two new experiences launched this summer, offering guests the opportunity to spend the day creating their own wine or creating their own honey, both with personalised branding and able to be shipped to their home address. Nearby, history-curious guests may venture to the village of Siurana, known for its spectacular vistas, a small Romanesque-style temple, as well as the remains of an old Arab castle dating from the 9th century. Wine aficionados will delight in many high-quality wineries, where the DO Montsant and DOC Priorat wines are attributed to the region’s unique soil, perfect climate, and rugged topography. The latter lends itself wonderfully to the most adventurous guests, the area being ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, and rock climbing, offering visitors opportunities to explore the stunning Sierra de Montsant Natural Park.
Gran Hotel Mas d’en Bruno advocates for and supports the local community. Home to a boutique featuring local products such as wine from the 106 wineries in Priorat, local olive oils, nuts and baked goods, jewellery, ceramics, art and more. The property’s two restaurants promote local farm products and regional recipes – with dishes including Mas d’en Bruno’s take on the local “Truita amb Suc”. Local wineries are also able to use the on-site wine cellar for their own clients as well important hosting of international distributors.
